Position Overview

The Equipment Service Technician will be responsible for the safe and effective diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and modification of machine components, drilling equipment, and related machinery in both shop and customer field environments.

The ideal candidate is personable, reliable, ethical, adaptable, safety-focused, and a strong problem solver who can work independently with minimal direct supervision.

This position involves frequent communication with customers, suppliers, coworkers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders. Spanish fluency is preferred but not required due to frequent communication with Spanish-speaking clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, maintain, and modify various makes of drilling equipment and other machinery.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, modifications, and repairs.
  • Perform service and repairs in both shop and field environments.
  • Read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, mechanical schematics, and related technical documentation.
  • Plan appropriate methods and sequences for assigned activities.
  • Complete all assigned work safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Prepare accurate daily records and documentation of work performed.
  • Ensure equipment meets required cosmetic and quality standards upon completion.
  • Return unused parts and materials according to company guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and compliant service records.
  • Maintain and care for shop tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, coworkers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain strong employee and customer relationships.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
  • Respond to IDE and customer service needs with flexibility and minimal notice.
  • Maintain a clean driver’s license.
  • Maintain or obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Travel up to 80% annually as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Mechanical repair and troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain drilling equipment and related machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, and mechanical schematics.
  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in shop and field environments.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and safety-focused.
  • Must possess and maintain a personal set of tools.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Must be available to respond to customer and company needs on short notice.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% annually.

Education

  • Technical school certificate or equivalent mechanical repair experience preferred.

Spanish Language

  • Spanish fluency is preferred but not required.
  • The position involves frequent communication with Spanish-speaking clients.
  • Compensation may be adjusted based on Spanish language skills and overall experience.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on equipment service position requiring work in both shop and customer field environments. The technician must be comfortable working independently under varying:

The position requires extensive travel, up to 80% annually, along with the ability to respond to customer and company needs on short notice.
